For years dog tags have been primarily associated with the military, and therefore have been one of the most popular items we carry among our store.
Soldiers are required to wear tags at all times when in combat. The standard dog tag comes with two chains, one long and one short, and two identical tags containing the soldiers personal information. The reason for this is it allows for the longer chain to be worn around the soldiers neck; and the second on a much smaller chain attached to the first chain. If the soldier is killed, in battle, the second tag is collected, and the first dog tag remains with the body so that it can be identified. The standard information that the dog tag contains is: Surname, first name and middle initial (occupying the first two lines), Social Security Number, Blood Type and Religion. For the US Armed Forces each group may vary a little one what the tags read but generally this is the information contained.
We personalize all dog tags to the exact way the customer requests. Today we are finding that although we do get a great deal of service men and woman in requesting tags, they have also become somewhat of a fashionable jewelry piece and therefore customers are using dog tags for various things; weddings, favors, for personal belongings and sports teams. There are a couple of different types of dog tags you can purchase as well as colors and silencers, making each set unique.
