Survival food consists of commercial MREs (Meals Ready to Eat). These are full meals similar to the packages that are issued to the military. The commercial MREs are made up with all the parts that go into actual MREs issued by the government but with a few different items being substituted. The full meals come with a heater, entrée, dessert and side dishes. We also sell the individual entrees and side dishes by themselves if you wanted to put something of your own together. The genuine issued MREs are very hard to get but we do occasionally have them available to sell.
MREs, whether the genuine issue ones or commercial manufactured are very beneficial for survival because you do not have to cook them but you do have an option to heat them with a heater if wanted. The shelf life of the food is up to 10 years. We also have emergency high-energy 3600 calorie carbo bar. This is the food ration that is used by the Coast Guard. It is a compressed food bar which provides 3 days worth of nutrients and is good for one person. It is made of various types of nutritional food sources. This item has a shelf life of 5-years.
Mountain House is more of a food that is used by backpackers, campers and hikers. The food is dehydrated so when it is time to use it, you must add water and cook it in order to eat it. They are very tasty and have up to 30 different menus ranging from dinners, dessert, vegetables and breakfasts. Mountain House has joined the survival food popularity with some products that they sell just for this reason. We do not carry them but it is very similar to the MRE idea. The Mountain House food has a shelf life of 5 years.
